Santa Anita Recap – March 14th
Sunday (3-14-10) Santa Anita Park Recap
Early-pressing types (3 wire jobs) strong on both surfaces.
Garrett Gomez booted home a pair, and Jeff Mullins saddled three winners on the afternoon.
In the lone downhill race carded, Annihilation rallied strongly to nip my early-pressing top Czechers in the first running of the Clocker’s Corner Handicap for fillies and mares. Alex Solis booted home the Dan Hendricks trainee. I thought Czechers was best as she was all over a swift pace and fought hard to the end. The 1st, 3rd, and 4th place finishers were 8th, 9th, and 11th after the opening quarter, so that makes the prominent throughout effort turned in by the runner-up look even stronger.
Pick 6 Results
I nailed the first three legs on the Big Ticket, and along came 77-1 bomber Laserbeam Jackson to ruin the roll. Had a pair of neck defeats and a show finish to round out the card.
Wednesday Preview (3-17-10)
An 8-race card is on tap for Wednesday, and there is a pick six carryover of more than $139k. Weather forecast looks promising with partly sunny skies expected and a high temperature of 83. Stay tuned to this site for analysis and tickets.

Santa Anita Pick 6 – March 14th
Sunday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes the $55k Clockers’ Corner Handicap for fillies and mares traveling six and one-half furlongs on the turf. Sweeter Still is the tepid 7-2 morning line favorite. She has not been seen in 293-days but is training well for her comeback. Sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 73. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.
Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.
Degree of Difficulty: Moderate. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Sunday pick six from Santa Anita rates a 6.
Possible Singles: Brookie Girl (5th race), Bettingonthefly (7th race), Czechers (8th race)
Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Sunday, March 14, 2010
Santa Anita Race 4 (MSW, 3yo, 8T) I liked #3 Body Builder (8-1) last time, and he was an okay 5th at 11-1 that day. Speed ratings continue to climb, and Canani has him fresh and ready to roll today. Nice move on March 10th. #8 Royal F J (3-1) has landed the place in four straight, and he ran into a nice animal (Line of David) in latest outing. #4 Hockley (5-2) is starting to look like an underneath key after hitting the board in all five special weight outings.
Santa Anita Race 5 (Str-Alw f&m 4up, 6f) #4 Brookie Girl (5-2) could not have been more impressive in maiden claiming tally last out, and barn 24% with recent grads trying winners for first time. Stalking trip expected. #3 Past Curfew (2-1) earned her best fig to date in a solid local show finish, and winner came back to score again. Sharp NoCal outfit excels 3rd off the shelf, and lone win was at this course/distance.
Santa Anita Race 6 (Alw-1x, f&m 4up, 8T) #7 Madel (8-1) owns an ascending speed fig pattern. Graduated down the dip in Jan., and she was a solid 3rd in a synthetic route last time. Like this profitable barn. #11 Medaglia D’amour (4-1) smoked maidens at this course/distance off the shelf last time. Rosario strings along and must work out a trip from disadvantageous post. #8 Warren’s Appeal (9-2) found nine panels a bit out of her comfort range last time. Mile specialist should revert to stalking tactics today. #9 Turning Top (10-1) flopped in an off the turf event last time, and her bad effort was not unexpected as she failed to fire in other two synthetic starts too. Back on preferred footing and attracts Gomez. Rates a longshot look.
Santa Anita Race 7 (Mcl-32k, 3yo, 6.5f) #2 Bettingonthefly (3-1) sports the best overall late pace figs and will be flying late. Added ½ furlong can only help, and graduation day may have arrived. #4 Saarface (7-2) earned vastly improved pace figs 2nd time out, but that was over eight months ago. Dons the hood and dips into a maiden claimer for O’Neill. Gomez up.
Santa Anita Race 8 (Clockers’ Corner Hcp, f&m 4up, 6.5T) Not much pace for a race of this quality, and #8 Czechers (4-1) appears poised for a turnback smasher. Earned strong pace figs versus Tuscan Evening at a flat mile last time. Ran a big hillside race on Jan 3rd, and Bejarano hops aboard the prominent throughout factor. #3 Empressive Lady (12-1) wanted no part of a route last time, and she blew the break down the dip before that. Reunites with Espinoza and is a stalk and pounce rebound threat for Mullins. Barn also has #10 Sweeter Still (7-2), and the latter is training well for this. Broke maiden off the shelf in a hillside affair.
Santa Anita Race 9 (Mcl-32k, 3yo, 8.5f) I have liked #9 My Friend Bernie (6-1) more than once, and his speed ratings continue to climb. Latest route best effort to date, and a stalking trip is anticipated. #11 Tale of the Bat (10-1) finished an even 5th in sprint bow. He’s not a proven loser and has plenty of upside in a wide open heat. Working well for solid connections. #3 Ready For A Change (7-2) is tagged for the first time and receives a rider upgrade to Bejarano. Seemingly fits well in here.

Santa Anita Recap – March 13th (5 of 6)
Working Capital ($8.60) went coast to coast in the Saturday opener under Martin Garcia. Gary Mandella was the winning trainer.
Malibu Artiste ($5) scored in the 2nd under 7 pound apprentice James. Paul Aguirre saddled the winner.
Valkyrie Missile ($9) went last to first in the 3rd for Quinonez/Puype.
I’mneverwrong ($8.80) held on by a neck in the 4th for Espinoza/Cassidy.
Went four deep on both tickets to start the pick six, and I was rewarded when One Track Mind ($13.20) went all the way under Tyler Baze. David Bernstein saddled the winner.
First of three straight Budget Ticket singles, and off to a flying start with My Man Sumo ($4.60). Bejarano booted home the Jeff Mullins trainee.
Universal good thing Zenyatta ($2.60) had a few anxious moments waiting for room in the lane, but she is scary talented and cruised home once clear in the Santa Margarita. Don’t think Rachel wants any part of this mare at Oaklawn. Mike Smith had his usual seat aboard the Shirreffs trainee.
Capped off the Budget Ticket singleton trifecta with Top Feeling ($5.40) Bejarano booted home the turf winner for Victor Garcia. Looking good with five contenders in the upcoming San Felipe.
Conso at the very least on both tickets after Sidney’s Candy ($9.60) went all the way for Talamo/Sadler. Runner-up Interactif was getting to the winner and could easily turn the tables in the SA Derby. Caracortado checked in a respectable 3rd, and American Lion tracked and weakened in a very disappointing effort. Need Hit The Brix or Tribul Witch for 6 out of 6.
Ouch! Alphabet Cat ($75.20) and Tribul Witch rallied in tandem, and the latter outfinished my value contender by a 1/2 length. So close to Budget Ticket glory, but have to settle for a conso on both tickets. Espinoza was the winning pilot for Henry Moreno. 6 of 6 returned more than $27k, and the conso was worth $110.20.

Santa Anita Pick 6 – March 13th
Saturday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes a pair of graded events. First up is the Grade 1 Santa Margarita, and Zenyatta packs on the pounds (127) in her seasonal bow and Apple Blossom tune-up. Two races later, 3yo’s take center stage in the Grade 2 San Felipe. Five logical contenders in the seven horse field. Sidney’s Candy is the one to catch, and American Lion and Caracortado will be tracking intently. Interactif and Dave In Dixie are the ones to fear late in a deep and contentious prep for the Santa Anita Derby. Partly cloudy are expected with a high temperature of 67. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.

Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Saturday, March 13, 2010
Santa Anita Race 5 (OC-62.5/2x, 4up, 8.5f) #6 Mr. Big (6-1) was training well for his comeback on Feb 10th, and he finished with interest after a slow beginning from the rail that day. Four solid drills since, and Baffert excels 2nd off the shelf. Barn also has #8 Viscount (4-1), and he will appreciate a return to the optional claiming ranks. #9 Massone (7-2) frequently settles for minor placings, but he has tackled stakes foes in 9 of last 10. Lone optional claiming start in that timeframe resulted in a sharp turf tally. Bejarano had options but ends up here, and he has no problem with synthetic ground. #1 One Track Mind (8-1) is training well for this and might get brave if able to sneak away early.
Santa Anita Race 6 (Clm-10k, 4up, 6f) #1 My Man Sumo (3-1) cuts back and switches surfaces, and Mullins excels with this type of class tumbler. Bejarano sees fit the ride. #10 A Royal Tizzy (7-2) projects an outside speed trip, and the sharp gelding could easily make it three straight. #8 White Lace Jimmy (6-1) has not been seen in 7+ months, but he has quality connections in his corner and is a capable late running sprinter.
Santa Anita Race 7 (Grade 1 Santa Margarita Hcp, f&m 4up, 9f) All eyes on #8 Zenyatta (1-9) in this spot. She uncorked a big work on March 5th to signal her eagerness to return to action. She will not be fully cranked for her Apple Blossom prep, but she does not have to be either. She should cruise past this crew in the late stages. #1 Dance To My Tune (50-1) is winless in thirteen turf tries, and I have been waiting for her to flee that footing. Too bad she runs into Zenyatta, but she’s as good as the others and could complete a decent exacta payoff. Note that she has banked over $300k on synthetic ground.
Santa Anita Race 8 (OC-25/1x, CA-bred 4up, 8T) #6 Top Feeling (5-1) looms large in his current form. Was headed in an off the turf affair last time, and his previous outing resulted in a 4-length turf tally. Stalking type retains top jock. #5 Renegade Storm (7-2) graduated at this course/distance, but he has lost six straight since. Late running purse nibbler will get up one of these days. #2 Thorondor (6-1) has not been seen in over a year, and Vienna does fine work with this type of returnee. Will take them as far as he can.
Santa Anita Race 9 (Grade 2 San Felipe, 3yo, 8.5f) I am looking for #4 American Lion (4-1) to turn the tables on #7 Caracortado (5-2). The former was too fresh chasing Tiz Chrome in the Lewis. He was coming off the shelf and making his route bow that day, and he did all of the pace dirty work in a better than appears effort. Should move forward (blinkers on) and get first run trip if able to relax behind quality speedster #5 Sidney’s Candy (3-1). If my top wastes too much early energy again, than Caracortado can keep his perfect record intact. The professional Cal-bred is 2 for 2 at this course and distance. Sidney’s Candy flashed juvenile promise, and he looked great in 7f San Vicente last time. Bred to route and has the raw talent to wire these. #2 Interactif (4-1) is a talented turf performer trying synthetic for the first time. Owns running style versatility and attracts Bejarano. #6 Dave In Dixie (3-1) sucked up for the place in needed Lewis return. Needs pace help and can move up, but he’s still eligible for an entry level affair.
Santa Anita Race 10 (Clm-12.5/2L, f&m 4up, 6f) #2 Hit The Brix (7-2) graduated right out of the box in a maiden claimer across town. She has faced starter allowance foes in a pair of starts since, and she went down the dip last time. Back in for a tag and top jock strings along. #9 Tribul Witch (8-1) ran into a sharp foe (Stash) for $25k last time. Has never raced this low and connections easy to like.

Santa Anita Recap – March 12th
Courtly Couture ($21.20) rallied to upset the Friday opener for Espinoza/Greely.
Chalk players rejoice as Drink At Last Call ($4.60) tallied in the 2nd under Michael Baze. Jeff Mullins saddled the winner.
Pick 6 time, and a good start with Paleo ($6) getting up by a neck for Bejarano/O’Neill.
No worries in the 4th as my top two were noses apart and well clear of the rest. Bummer for Budget Ticket single Brayden Buddy, but did stay alive on the Big Ticket with Warring Heart ($4.20). Pedroza booted home the Canani runner.
Hat trick on the Big Ticket and another 1-2 finish. Scottish Diamond ($7) was never headed under Michael Baze, and chalk up another winner for Jeff Mullins.
Really liked Higher Incentive in the hillside 6th, but she could not quite get to A Sassy Fusaichi ($11.60). Rosario booted home the winner for Mike Mitchell.
Thought I was home free with controlling speed Aggie Engineer in the feature…nope. Slew’s Tiznow ($15.40) never let the leader out of his sights and was a grinding winner for Gomez/Lloyd.
Budget Ticket single One Man’s Delight ($7) went all the way in the finale to graduate down the dip for Martin Garcia and Don Warren. 4 out of 6 with a pair of 2nds is a tough pill to swallow…but tomorrow is another day!

Santa Anita Pick 6 – March 12th
Friday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes three downhill sprints. The allowance feature will be run at a flat mile over the Pro-Ride surface, and Aggie Engineer looms the controlling speed against four rivals. Partly cloudy are expected with a high temperature of 72. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.

Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Friday, March 12, 2010
Santa Anita Race 3 (Clm-50k, 3yo fil, 6.5T) #3 Roman Charity (6-1) missed by a nose versus similar course/distance foes on Feb 13th. No threat versus optional claimers last time, but she was 26-1 and did not figure to fire that day. Back in a realistic spot and will be finishing. #5 Paleo (7-2) has never raced this low. She turns back, switches surfaces, and attracts Bejarano. Lone win in an overseas turf sprint. #6 Fair Chase (3-1) owns fine early-pressing versatility and prefers the sprint game. Tries turf for quality outfit.
Santa Anita Race 4 (Mcl-25k, 4up, 6.5f) #7 Brayden Buddy (8-5) is slowly improving for Cerin, and Bejarano is 2 for 4 with barn recently. Sports the best pace/speed ratings and looms a short priced winner. #3 Warring Heart (9-5) is out of a deadly first time maiden claiming outfit. Returns from an 11+ month hiatus.
Santa Anita Race 5 (Clm-8k, 4up, 6f) #8 Cape Town King (9-2) dueled through quick splits and held the show in much needed NoCal return. 2-time local winner typically fires 2nd time back and projects an outside tracking trip. #3 Scottish Diamond (5-2) is a consistent early-pressing gelding, and barn excels with this type of dropper. #9 Figeac (6-1) has found his niche in these cheap claimers. In fine form and owns positional speed.
Santa Anita Race 6 (Clm-25k, f&m 4up, 6.5T) #1 Higher Incentive (5-1) won down the dip under today’s jock Bejarano in Oct., and she went route to sprint that day as well. #4 Life By R R (2-1) was making her 3rd start in 18-days while scurrying up the ladder in a $50k show finish last time. Down in class with better spacing, and she owns a turf sprint win.
Santa Anita Race 7 (Alw-56k, 4up, 8f) #3 Aggie Engineer (7-5) enjoys the Pro-Ride surface and looms the controlling speed in a compact field. #1 Sir Al (4-1) hails from a sharp NoCal outfit and is capable of pouncing on a slow pace.
Santa Anita Race 8 (MSW, CA-bred 3up, 6.5T) #9 One Man’s Delight (3-1) is back with state bred friends after dueling and finishing 4th in the open synthetic sprint ranks. Speed ratings continue to climb, and he was a solid 4th in a productive downhill sprint earlier in the meet. #7 Mr Tokyo (8-1) hails from a sharp layoff barn and Gomez strings along. Tab for improvement. #8 Romance Is Family (5-1) ran into subsequent graded winner Alphie’s Bet last time. Reportedly a first time gelding, and Bejarano hops aboard.

Santa Anita Recap – March 11th
Chalky start to the Thursday program with Vision In Gold cruising to a stalking win for Rosario/Ellis.
Over to the turf for the 2nd, and Stalingrad ($12.80) was never headed under David Flores. James Cassidy saddled the winner.
Pick six carryover time, and my first timer top Stormy Linda scratched. Still left with three contenders, but no dice as Got A Plan ($13.80) edged my player Warrens Royal Lady. Tyler Baze booted home the Jerry Fanning trainee.
No worries in the 4th as Stash ($6) was never threatened down the dip. Another one for Tyler Baze, this time for Mike Mitchell.
Ran 1-2 in the 5th with Saltendipity ($6.20) using her experience to edge promising firster Rebecca. Joel Rosario was the winning pilot for Ben Cecil.
Was talking to my friend on the phone earlier, and I said the negative rail post would jump up and bite me in the grassy 6th. Sure enough, Line of David ($4.60) coasted to an easy wire job win for Bejarano/Sadler.
Went four deep in the 7th, and that’s all I needed to cash the super with my value top Quiet Invader ($12) clinging to a nose victory over Lions Story. Martin Garcia booted home the Baffert trainee.
Finale unfolded at a fast clip as expected, but singleton Sweet Patricia did not have the smoothest inside stretch run in a disappointing 4th place effort. Excessive Chatter ($23.60) was the stalk and pounce winner for Pedroza and Kitchingman.

$81,826 Santa Anita Pick 6 – March 11th
Thursday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes two grass races and features a carryover of more than $81k. The synthetic sprint feature figures to be run at a rapid pace, and classy route to sprint runner Domonation could be the one to pick up the pieces. Sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 70. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.
Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.

Possible Singles: Raging Wit (6th race), Sweet Patricia (8th race)
Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Thursday, March 11, 2010
Santa Anita Race 3 (Mcl-32k, 3yo fil, 5f) Wide open maiden claiming sprint to kick off the carryover festivities. #10 Stormy Linda (4-1) is a $45k Keeneland sales grad with a productive and profitable jockey-trainer team in her corner. Nice gate move on Feb 17th. #9 Warrens Royal Lady (9-2) has the experience edge but has yet to find a running style. Maybe her new jock can figure her out. #6 Hot Nurse (12-1) and #8 Massive Reaction (9-2) have shown some morning ability, and we shall see if that translates to afternoon results.
Santa Anita Race 4 (Clm-40k, f&m 4up, 6.5T) #3 Alpine Yodel (5-1) has that good route speed that works so well down the dip. Back in for a tag and could sit right stalking trip. #5 Royal Taat (5-2) is out of the turf stakes ranks. She used to win races and will be finishing fast. #2 Stash (3-1) exits sharp synthetic sprint wire job, and magic Mike has her now. Expect aggressive handling under Tyler Baze. Speedy miss on the board in 3 of 4 turf sprint starts. #6 Carnival Queen is 1 for 19 on turf, and #7 Dash Dot Dash is winless in 8 turf tries, so I’ll try to beat that duo on the win end.
Santa Anita Race 5 (MSW, 3yo fil, 6f) #6 Saltendipity (3-1) landed place in both outings but ran better in bow. Might be best with a target to chase. #8 Rebecca (5-2) is working like she means business for her bow for a profitable debut special weight outfit.
Santa Anita Race 6 (Alw-1x, 3yo, 8T) #2 Raging Wit (5-2) looms the class play in here. Was run off his feet by Sidney’s Candy last time. Faced quality stakes foes in both turf outings, and he made a move and flattened out each time. Expect Gomez to bide his time in this spot. #3 Majestic Afleet (3-1) finished a troubled 4th in lone turf try over the downhill course. Attracts solid turf jock and worked well the other day. The rail post has been poison (1 for 47) at a flat mile on the grass, and morning line fav Line of David will break from the hedge today. Donned the hood and stole latest, and I am expecting him to get some pace pressure today.
Santa Anita Race 7 (Alw-1x, 3yo, 6.5f) #7 Quiet Invader (6-1) made a middle move before getting trounced by Sidney’s Candy last time. I liked him that day, along with Raging Wit (see 6th race), and maybe one or both can make amends today. Probably stalks a fast pace today. #5 Domonation (7-2) is best as a late running sprinter, and he gets plenty of heat in the paper race. Has a touch of class as he faced stakes foes in last three. It is usually a good sign when a returnee pops up with a career top in his 3yo bow, and such was the case with #4 Lions Story (9-2). Figures to stalk the pace for top connections. #2 Hurricane Ike (9-2) fired big shots in both non-graded outings. Another contender in a competitive affair.
Santa Anita Race 8 (Mcl-32k, 3yo fil, 5f) An above par pace seems likely in the finale. #5 Sweet Patricia (3-1) went to the lead in Del Mar bow, but pace was not super quick, and I am looking for a stalking trip in her return for a razor sharp layoff/2nd timer barn. Took some action in aforementioned bow, and winner came back to score. Not much to topple. In a tough sequence, I will single her on both tickets and take my chances.
Thursday Pick 6 Tickets
Budget Play: $2 Pick Six 9-10/2-3-5/6-8/2/2-4-5-7/5 ($96)

Santa Anita Recap – March 10th
One Shot ($8.80) began the Wednesday festivities with a wire job tally under Santiago Reyes. James Barnes was the winning conditioner.
Another coast to coast winner in the 2nd as Born To Shop ($7.80) graduated for Amador/Periban.
Pick 6 time, and my value oriented 3rd choice Nitro Active ($12.60) got up to beat purse nibbling fav Cavanal in this flat mile grass claimer. Garrett Gomez guided home the Doug O’Neill trainee.
Even money Budget Ticket single Free Flying Soul failed to grab the early lead and just did land the show. No worries for the big spenders as the Big Ticket offered up 5-2 winner Quisisana (Bejarano-Puype).
Went four deep in the 5th, and fav Unusually Sound ($5.40) proved best for Solis/Gallagher.
Hopes for six dashed after Stockings ($19.80) safely held off my contender Hopeful Union. Rosario brought home the Sadler trainee.
Still alive for five after Noblety ($8.80) surged late down the dip for his 4th win in last five outings. Espinoza booted home the Kruljac trainee. Need chalk in the finale for a conso.
L’Enchanteresse failed to bring the conso home after tracking and weakening to 5th. As luck would have it, my 2nd choice This Time Baby ($9) went all the way under Martin Garcia. Walther Solis saddled the winner. Pick six was not hit, so the Thursday card gets a nice $81k head start.

Santa Anita Pick 6 – March 10th
Wednesday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes three grass races and a stakes quality synthetic sprint. In the latter event, Free Flying Soul, 3rd in the Grade 1 Santa Monica on Jan 31st, will try to hold off Sunshine Millions winner Quisisana. Partly cloudy and windy conditions are expected with a high temperature of 66. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.

Possible Singles: Free Flying Soul (4th race), Pink Blossom (6th race), L’Enchanteresse (8th race)
Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Wednesday, March 10, 2010
Santa Anita Race 3 (Clm-25k, 4up, 8T) #6 Mind The Minister (4-1) ran a better than expected 2nd in a local synthetic route last time. Both wins on turf and owns running style versatility. #3 Cavanal (5-2) lacks a winning spirit, but that seems to be the case with many of these. Consistent finisher owns the numbers to down this crew. #4 Nitro Active (9-2) drops to lowest level and hails from a sharp blinkers off outfit. Lone turf win at this flat mile distance. #1 Polonius (4-1) is a pace player at the very least, but the rail post (1 for 46) has been dreadful in flat mile turf races.
Santa Anita Race 4 (Alw-53k, f&m 4up, 6f) #5 Free Flying Soul (8-5) battled on pace and finished 3rd in a 7f grade one last time, and place finisher Proviso came back to beat the boys in the grassy Kilroe (G1). This is her fav oval, and class/speed a deadly combo, especially controlling pace at a speed friendly distance. Working well for this. #2 Quisisana (5-2) has never been better and will be tracking my top from the outset. She is 3 for 3 at this distance and goes for the hat trick today.
Santa Anita Race 5 (MSW, CA-bred 3up, 8T) #5 Excess Power (5-1) broke 10th and ended up an even 5th of 14 in local synthetic sprint bow. In Excess is a fine grass sire, and Rosario sticks with the improvement candidate. #3 Unusually Sound (5-2) rallied for the place from an outer post in local course/distance bow, and show finisher came back to score. Barn solid with 2nd timers, and the gelded son of Unusual Heat is a contender right back. #7 Bud I Crushed It (7-2) ran into the likes of subsequent graded winners Alphie’s Bet and Caracortado in his last pair. Barn excels with this type of layoff runner, and he looms a prominent throughout player. #8 Teafatiller (4-1) was nosed out of the show in same race Unusually Sound exits, and that was his first start since Dec ’08. Every right to move up today.
Santa Anita Race 6 (OC-80/1x, 3yo fil, 6f) #4 Pink Blossom (5-2) earned strong pace figs in 7f bow, and she did all of the dirty work in a dueling place finish in first start versus winners. Speed strong at this distance recently, and look out if she shakes loose early. #3 Haggai (4-1) exits a productive downhill stakes affair, and her best race was a sharp win in local synthetic bow. Has hot connections in her corner and should go better on surface switch 3rd off the shelf. #2 Hopeful Union (3-1) was a professional stalking winner at first asking and has plenty of upside. Barn does well with recent graduates trying winners for first time.
Santa Anita Race 7 (Clm-50k, 4up, 6.5T) #1 Ron Bob And Dave (9-2) owns fine early-pressing speed and has been part of exacta in all four downhill tries. Bejarano hops aboard as Talamo opts for returnee #2 Hewitts (6-1). The latter went all the way in a downhill sprint (Jan ’09) under today’s pilot, and he’s working well for this. #7 Noblety (7-2) is a must use because his tactical speed frequently puts him in a position to win, and note that he has tallied in 3 of last 4. Enjoys the hillside course.
Santa Anita Race 8 (Mcl-32k, 3yo fil, 8f) #4 L’Enchanteresse (6-5) was right on the winning par for this in turf route place finish last time. Surface switching special weight dropper dons the hood and should be forwardly placed for quality connections. Does not meet much. #1 This Time Baby (4-1) continues to slowly improve, and she split the field in a local route last time. Rail post strong at this distance, and I would not be surprised if she was aggressively handled in this spot.
