$115,261 Santa Anita Pick 6 Carryover – Jan 2nd
- Updated: January 1, 2010
Saturday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park features the Grade 2 San Gorgonio and includes a pick six carryover of more than $115k. Life Is Sweet is the marquee name in the aforementioned graded affair, but she could be vulnerable switching surfaces in her first start since winning the BC Ladies’ Classic. Mostly sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 77. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.
Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.
Degree of Difficulty: Competitive. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Saturday pick six from Santa Anita rates a 7.5.
Possible Singles: Noble Court (5th race), Top Seeded (6th race), Megillah (7th race), Treat Gently (8th race)

Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Saturday, January 2, 2010
Santa Anita Race 4 (MSW, 3yo, 5.5f) #2 Zilarator (7-2) disappointed in career bow across town. Two solid local works for this and could go much better this time around. Barn also has #3 Mr Charlie (7-2), and the $725k purchase comes in fresh after a pair of disappointing starts to begin career. #7 Lets Go Indian (8-1) is out of 17% debut sire Indian Charlie, and dam has tossed three winners from as many starters. Solid local move on Dec 28th, and Hendricks is a profitable first out trainer. #1 Oceanographer (3-1) flopped as fav in turf sprint return. Returns to synthetic and can go better 2nd off the shelf. #5 Wayman (5-2) ran his best race here under today’s rider Rosario.
Santa Anita Race 5 (Impressive Luck Hcp, 4up, 6.5T) #2 Noble Court (3-1) beat similar downhill foes in March, and he split the field in BC Turf Sprint. No pace help in latest graded synthetic try, and with a bit more pace help he can rebound on surface switch. Local turf bullet for this. #3 Mr. Cacht (5-2) was a multiple turf sprint winner in Argentina, and he beat my top in US synthetic bow. Figures a pace player and must avoid bounce.
Santa Anita Race 6 (Mcl-50k, CA-bred 3yo fil, 6f) #2 Top Seeded (9-5) cuts back in distance, and her best effort was close-up show finish in local career bow at this level. #6 Dance the Dance (3-1) finished a solid 3rd on drop to this level off the shelf last time. #7 Kiss My Swiss (5-1) was a nose behind Dance the Dance in career debut. Hails from a solid 2nd timer outfit and has every right to improve.
Santa Anita Race 7 (Clm-25/2L, 4up, 7f) #8 Megillah (7-2) dons the hood and cuts back on the surface switch. Reunites with profitable sprint jock Espinoza and is back in a two lifetime claimer. #3 Fitzmo (3-1) is a 2nd off the shelf pace factor, and Santiago Reyes is 2 for 3 with Kitchingman. #1 Mensa Heat (8-1) earned best last race speed rating at Del Mar. Sutherland/Abrams 2 for 2 together recently.
Santa Anita Race 8 (Grade 2 San Gorgonio Hcp, f&m 4up, 9T) #3 Treat Gently (3-1) was a classy overseas performer, and she uncorked a huge late pace fig in winning US bow. Disappointed in E P Taylor at Woodbine last time, and the fresh Juddmonte miss is now under the care of Mott. Rebound expected. #9 Cat By The Tale (6-1) enjoys the local weeds and has fired in all six US starts. #4 Life Is Sweet (9-5) was flattered by swift pace in BC Ladies Classic, and she seems better on synthetic. Has won twice on turf. #5 Diamondrella (7-2) has talent but might not want to go this far.
Santa Anita Race 9 (Clm-12.5/2L, f&m 4up, 6f) #12 Red White and Brew (5-1) earned above par speed rating in latest $25k start across town. Gomez hops aboard. #9 Love To Fish Kona (7-2) hails from a crafty barn and looms a pace factor under 17% speed jock Chantal Sutherland. #3 Slews Copy (3-1) hails from a profitable 25% layoff barn, and Tyler Baze booted her home in April. Stalking trip likely.

Great Analysis. I will give this a whirl utilizing your top picks and rolling in Life Is Sweet (R8) and Kiss My Swiss (R6). Should be fun.
Thanks!

Ended up being a tough sequence. Almost a double carryover.
