$139,205 Santa Anita Pick 6 Carryover – March 17th

Wednesday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes three grass races and features a carryover of more than $139k. For those looking for singles, She’s Not Lion (5th race) and Canonize (7th race) seem like rock solid contenders. Partly cloudy skies are expected with a high temperature of 83. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.

Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.

Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Santa Anita Race 3 (Mcl-25k, f&m 4up, 7f) #1 Sh Sh Shakin’ (5-1) rallied for show from outside post in across town bow (Dec ’09). Hails from a sneaky low profile barn and can do some improving 2nd time out. #5 Simply Put (5-2) flopped as the fav in needed comeback. Could go better for Sadler, but Bejarano abandons for #4 Irish Pepper (9-5). The latter has hit the board in five straight and might be allergic to winning. #6 The Legal Blonde (3-1) dons the hood and turns back. Ran well in first tagged outing on March 4th. This is my MySpace Play of the Day.

Santa Anita Race 4 (Clm-50k, f&m 4up, 8T) #6 Victoria Reel (5-1) is out of the optional claiming ranks, and check out that fine 6f move on March 12th. Reunites with winning pilot Gomez and returns to preferred footing. #3 Lilly Fa Pootz (5-1) has been part of trifecta in 9 of last 10. NoCal shipper handles turf and has fine connections in her corner. #7 Sleep Tight (5-2) is unproven over a route of ground and goes from Mitchell to Sadler via claim. In decent form but has not won in quite some time. This is my Horse Racing Nation Play of the Day.

Santa Anita Race 5 (MSW, f&m 3up, 8f) #8 She’s Not Lion (5-2) appears poised to route following a pair of solid sprint show finishes to begin career. Place finisher from last came back to score. #7 Silver Heat (3-1) sports a pair of bullets for first start in more than five months. She has some upside with only three races under her belt.

Santa Anita Race 6 (Alw-1x, 4up, 8T) #6 Norvsky (7-2) was a head to the good in latest state bred synthetic route, and that quality fig was validated when place finisher came back to score impressively. Speed ratings better on synthetic, but he graduated on turf and has earned strong late pace figs in all four grass outings. #5 Lucky Primo (8-1) is working with a purpose for comeback, and sharp barn does fine work with lengthy layoff runners. ’08 Cal Cup Juvenile hero is out of a solid turf sire. #7 Worth Repeating (8-1) owns an ascending speed fig pattern and ran into a good one (Red Sun) last time. Bred all over to route but flopped in all three two turn tests to date. #10 Tamarack Smarty (3-1) has faced quality state bred foes throughout his career. Has fired in all five flat mile turf routes and must work out a trip from disadvantageous post.

Santa Anita Race 7 (OC-62.5/2x, 4up, 6f) #4 Canonize (8-5) earned big fig in head defeat at this course, distance, and level in Jan. Ellis is a sharp layoff trainer, and anything approaching his last would be more than enough. #6 Mobilized (4-1) was helped by an above par pace last time, and note that the place/show finishers both came back to score. Dangerous late running synthetic sprinter.

Santa Anita Race 8 (Str-Alw, f&m 3up, 8T) #5 Kazroad (3-1) probably would have cleared this condition if she did not hop the dirt on the downhill course last time. Big five furlong work (March 10th) and stalking style should have her primed for a sharp effort around two turns. #3 Super Sophie (5-2) has run well in all three US starts. Note that she was stuck in the negative 1-hole at this distance off the shelf last time. #8 Glass of Red (9-2) is a 3yo filly trying older. No dice in her US bow versus 3yo optional claimers. Defeated 16 rivals in overseas turf route win in Oct. Could go better for Walsh.
