2012 Kentucky Derby Contender

Majestic City is undefeated in two starts and a stakes winner, so he’s unofficially the first 2012 Kentucky Derby Contender.

The chestnut colt, trained by Peter Miller, is out of City Zip so he may take to turf racing at some point. His aforementioned sire is responsible for turf stakes winners Get Serious, Unzip Me, and Workin For Hops. He also threw this year’s Arkansas Derby show finisher Dance City.

Dam sire Meadowlake has tossed the likes of Meadow Star and Meafara. The Carson City/Meadowlake cross has also produced stakes winners Little Miss Zip and Tishmeister, with City Zip the sire of both.

Majestic City’s dam It’schemistrybaby is out of a Pleasant Tap mare so he could get stamina from that branch of the family tree. His next scheduled start is the Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile Championship on July 17.
