Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Thursday, February 11, 2010

Santa Anita Race 3 (OC-62.5/2x, 4up, 6.5T) #7 Gothic Samurai (5-1) showed fine early-pressing speed in turf routes, and this type typically fires on the hillside course. Reunites with Gomez and won a turf sprint in Australia last year. #8 Mr. Bossy Pants (6-1) exits a sharp stalking tally at this course/distance, and a similar trip is in the cards. Goes for four-bagger today. #5 Lease of Life (6-1) hails from a profitable 25% layoff barn, and Rosario clicks with this outfit. Turf router could finish full of run down the dip.

Santa Anita Race 4 (MSW, 3yo, 6.5f) #2 Screaming Destiny (5-2) hails from recently hot Harty barn, and Bejarano hops aboard. Was out for the experience in local bow, and a big forward move could be forthcoming. $410k Keeneland sales grad working well for this. #6 Reprise (6-1) is out of a 17% debut MSW outfit, and Rosario hops aboard. Dam’s other starter won.

Santa Anita Race 5 (Str-Alw, 4up, 8T) #7 Wolfgang (7-2) finished 2nd down the dip last time. Mizzen Mast is a solid grass sire, and dam has thrown a turf winner, so it is not surprising that he handled sod. Ran well in numerous synthetic routes, so today’s added real estate is not an issue. Sitting on a top 3rd off the shelf. #3 John Eli (4-1) graduated on the drop last time, and Rosario hops aboard the surface switcher.

Santa Anita Race 6 (MSW, 3yo, 6.5f) #6 Imperial Pride (5-2) was highly regarded in local bow, and he ran well for poor debut outfit. Bob Hess Jr. 15% with 2nd timers, and extra ½ furlong helps. #7 Big Man Has A Sign (2-1) tracked pace and weakened in bow, and place finisher came back to score. Pedroza/Canani struck twice yesterday. #8 Tiz A Knight (4-1) is out of a profitable 22% debut outfit, and Gomez hops aboard the $300k purchase. #1 Big Wags (12-1) is out of a profitable 21% debut special weight barn, and the $80k Keeneland sales grad attracts Rosario. Not the best post for a firster.

Santa Anita Race 7 (OC-80/1x, 3yo fil, 6.5f) #6 Pink Blossom (2-1) earned strong triple digit pace figs in extended sprint bow. Headley 23% with recent graduates trying winners for the first time. #2 Church Camp (5-2) smartly nabbed Churchill bow, and show finisher returned to score. Shows up in rock solid Cali barn, and she’s been training here since early Dec.

Santa Anita Race 8 (Clm-8k, f&m 4up, 8.5f) #11 Twoformeoneforyou (5-1) showed late interest in a paceless extended sprint last time. Both career wins at this distance. #1 Paloma’s Flight (4-1) is a 3-time local winner exiting a game flat mile win here. #10 Recess (5-2) has been part of exacta in 7 of last 8. Changes barns and Tyler Baze rides her well.
