Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Thursday, March 4, 2010
Santa Anita Race 3 (Str-Alw, 3yo, 8T) #4 Unusual Encounter (4-1) improved to break maiden over a route of ground last time, and Abrams is 22% with recent graduates trying winners for the first time. Sire 15% first turf, and he has the potential to move up on the surface switch. #2 Cookie Rules (12-1) is an interesting pedigree play. Roman Ruler is a 17% first turf sire, and dam has tossed two turf winners. Handles two turns and gets pace to chase.
Santa Anita Race 4 (Mcl-25k, f&m 4up, 8.5f) #6 Warrensmysterydice (6-1) has every right to move forward after finishing 5th of 9 in first start in over a year. Competent barn a solid 15% blinkers off, and Talamo strings along. #9 The Legal Blonde (5-2) has been competitive in the special weight ranks recently, and she handled NoCal synthetic last time. Shows up in a new barn and attracts Espinoza. Obvious late running threat at this level. #8 Jacky’s Skipping (9-2) finished a clear 2nd behind a runaway winner in first route attempt last time. Overdue barn 22% 3rd off the shelf, and she figures close to an expected tepid early pace under Tyler Baze. #4 Dame Camille (12-1) has some upside potential with only two starts under her belt. Hails from a profitable first route barn and could do some surprising in a wide open heat.
Santa Anita Race 5 (Clm-12.5/2L, f&m 4up, 8.5f) #8 Argenta (7-2) has early-pressing tendencies in a race that came up light on pace. Back in for a tag 2nd off the shelf and pulled off a wire job in lone Pro-Ride route outing. Blinkers back on. #10 Lucy Got Lucky (5-2) rolled to an easy tally in local synthetic route maiden breaker on Feb 10th, and Canani is 30% with recent graduates trying winners for the initial time. Figures to track a slow pace once again.
Santa Anita Race 6 (Clm-25k, 4up, 6.5T) #2 Self Insured (3-1) has been part of exacta in 3 straight and 8 of last 10. Has been doing all of his damage on synthetic recently, and he has captured 1 of 8 turf starts. Reunites with winning pilot Rosario and projects the right stalking trip. #6 De Car Guy (12-1) is a capable turf sprinter, and he landed the place in an Oct ’09 downhill claimer. 20% turf jock Gomez tries his hand. #10 Valid Mecke (7-2) finished an even 4th from the rail in much needed off the turf return, and he earned a quality speed rating that day. Last win was at this course/distance (Jan ’07).
Santa Anita Race 7 (OC-80/1x, 3yo fil, 8.5f) #1a Smart Seattle (7-2) finished a disappointing, even 4th (beaten fav) in turf return, and Motion is 20% 2nd off the shelf. Nostrilized in lone synthetic (stakes) try, and she’ll sit the right stalking trip if good enough. #7 Sister Dawn (5-2) looked good in professional 5.5f bow as the fav, and she’s bred to go at least this far. Bejarano sticks with the promising sort, and Sadler has been on a roll recently. #6 Harissa (3-1) was run down by the talented Cozi Rosie last time. New pilot Espinoza excels with early-pressing types.
Santa Anita Race 8 (MSW, CA-bred f&m 3up, 6.5T) #6 Team Builder (9-2) shows a solid six furlong drill (Feb 21st), and Gaines is 22% debut turf. Bred for weeds and could easily hit the ground running. #1 Streamline Baby (7-2) did not get the best draw for a firster, but Vienna is 30% first turf, and she deserves a look on trainer stats. Barn also has #12 Flying Suances (9-2), and she rates a gander if able to get in from AE list. Sire 33% first turf.
