$85,150 Santa Anita Pick 6 Carryover – Feb 7th
Sunday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes a carryover of more than $85k. The feature race is the Grade 2 San Antonio for 4yo’s and up traveling nine furlongs on the Pro-Ride surface. Richard’s Kid is the 5-2 morning line choice, and he is using this as a prep for the Dubai World Cup. Partly cloudy skies are expected with a high temperature of 62. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.
Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.
Degree of Difficulty: Competitive. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Sunday pick six from Santa Anita rates a 7.
Possible Singles: Puff This (3rd race), On The Verge (6th race), Letsgetitright (8th race)
Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Sunday, February 7, 2010
Santa Anita Race 3 (Mcl-25k, f&m 4up, 5.5f) #1 Puff This (3-1) dueled and weakened in turf sprint bow. Inside speed threat is out of a 22% 2nd timer outfit (Puype). #9 Franjelica (4-1) drops, switches surfaces, and dons the hood off the shelf. Strong bullet on Jan 30th. #5 Humble Maggie Go (5-2) is working well for bow, and Hollendorfer is 22% with debut maiden claimers. #10 Meadow Lake Queen (5-1) adds blinkers, and today’s shorter trip helps. Espinoza strings along.
Santa Anita Race 4 (Clm-25k, 3yo fil, 6f) #4 Meetyouatgrouions (4-1) comes in fresh for Terry Knight, and Rosario is in the irons. Graduated in a SoCal synthetic sprint and will be finishing. #6 Cenizo (9-2) was a solid stalk and pounce maiden winner here last out, and Canani is 30% with recent graduates trying winners for the first time. Projects another nice trip under Gomez. #8 Part Time Luck (6-1) is a Turf Paradise transplant, and Mullins is 23% with new additions. Adds lasix and Bejarano.
Santa Anita Race 5 (MSW, 3yo fil, 6f) #2 S C Song Girl (3-1) must overcome inside post, but the $70k Keeneland sales grad is working lights out for this and could be up to the task. Hails from recently hot Machowsky barn, and he’s 18% debut MSW. #3 Merrytagio (12-1) ran into Hot Dixie Chick in her Churchill bow. Hess has her now, and she could return running (blinkers on) with Gomez in the irons. #8 Ms Margaritaville (6-1) chased an above par pace in extended sprint bow. Bejarano sticks.
Santa Anita Race 6 (Str-Hcp, 4up, 8f) #7 On The Verge (8-1) reunites with winning pilot Gomez, and he was aboard for all three of his synthetic tallies. Profitable low profile barn 50% (8-race sample) 3rd off the shelf outfit. Rarely works fast, but he sports a quick 4f bullet for this. #9 Spurrier (5-2) is an obvious threat after rallying for the place in the San Pasqual.
Santa Anita Race 7 (Grade 2 San Antonio, 4up, 9f) #10 Nownownow (6-1) was working well for his San Pasqual comeback, and he rallied nicely to land the show in first start in 9+ months. He continues to train forwardly and could easily show more today. Won a grade two here last winter. #4 Philatelist (10-1) is an overseas transplant exiting a sharp synthetic tally. Bejarano hops aboard for Ascanio, and the recently hot jock is 2 for 3 with this outfit. Surprise package. #8 Richard’s Kid (5-2) is working well for his first start since the BC Classic, but note that he is using this as a prep for the Dubai World Cup. Figures to sit back and make a late run under Gomez.
Santa Anita Race 8 (Mcl-32k, 3yo, 6.5f) #3 Letsgetitright (4-1) finished a solid 3rd in Hollywood bow, and he’s another live 2nd timer for Puype. #6 Charmed One (8-1) missed the show by less than a length from post 10 in local bow. Could easily improve for Cerin. #10 Move On Up (8-5) has hit the board in both career outings, and he’s a low odds contender 2nd off the shelf for Canani.
