$87,781 Santa Anita Pick 6 Carryover – Oct 1st

Thursday’s (Day 2) Pick 6 from Oak Tree @ Santa Anita includes a carryover from opening day of more than $87k. I was never in the running during the tough sequence. I said expect more carryovers in yesterday’s post, and it sure did not take long!

Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.

Degree of Difficulty: Moderate. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Thursday Pick 6 from Santa Anita rates a 6.

Possible Singles: Hot Summer Breeze (5th race), Bel Air Sizzle (7th race), Annie’s Loaded (8th race)

Jarrod Horak’s Oak Tree @ Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Thursday, October 1, 2009

Santa Anita Race 3 (Clm-10k, f&m 3up, 8.5f) #3 Sunny Peace (5-2) is a threat to go all the way in this spot. Broke maiden here and makes her 3rd start off the bench. #4 Our Storm (8-1) dons the hood and has won three times at SA. Quinonez/Becerra 43% together at this venue. #5 Soldier Betty (4-1) goes 3rd off the shelf and will be finishing.

Santa Anita Race 4 (Clm-32k, 3up, 8T) #7 Wild Diplomat (5-2) has been part of the exacta on five occasions at this course and distance. Talamo/O’Neill a profitable 26% together here. #3 Soupy (7-2) and #4 Yes It’s a Cat (3-1) were separated by a neck at Del Mar last time. The former is 1-12 here and 1-9 at a flat mile, while the latter reunites with Tyler Baze 3rd off the shelf.

Santa Anita Race 5 (Mcl-25k, f&m 3up, 5.5f) #1 Hot Summer Breeze (6-5) donned the hood and earned an above par speed rating when last seen at Del Mar. #4 A Clever Ten (8-1) is out of the profitable debut maiden claiming barn of Adam Kitchingman, and Espinoza is 2 for 5 with trainer at SA.

Santa Anita Race 6 (Str-Alw, 2yo, 6.5f) #6 Gilligan (15-1) earned competitive speed rating in extended sprint maiden breaker over synthetic. No threat versus stakes foes at Fairplex last time. Gets pace to chase and sports a local bullet. #4 Eternally Fast (6-1) attracts Rosario and gets another chance to run back to sharp Calder maiden win. Raced wide from outside post in lone synthetic try. #1 Peacenik (5-2) also disappointed after sharp Calder debut tally. Was shuffled on the turn last time and deserve another shot.

Santa Anita Race 7 (OC-6.25/2x, f&m 3up, 8T) #8 Bel Air Sizzle (3-1) reunites with Bejarano and does her best work over the local green. Drops out of the stakes ranks. #2 Hermione’s Magic (9-2) deserves another chance to cast her spell after a troubled journey in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks. Looked good in winning US bow. #5 Exquisite (9-2) hails from a 21% layoff barn and should be forwardly placed throughout.

Santa Anita Race 8 (Mcl-25k, f&m 3up, 5.5f) #9 Annie’s Loaded (7-2) had trouble in bow, and place finisher returned to score. Finished an even 4th off a layoff last time, and 1-2 finishers were both next out winners. Gets in light with Santiago Reyes. #8 Greek Advantage (6-1) finished 6th in the same race my top exits, and she returned to land the place at Fairplex. Pace factor.
