SA 1(Alw-1x, 9T) #9 Swift Eagle (8-1) has fired Trifecta shots in all five turf outings and he graduated at this distance. I like his running style versatility and Gomez rides him well. #3 Segway (8-1) looked good in his January flat mile turf bow and experienced a troubled beginning in his better than appears 6th place return Oct 14. Mandella is enjoying a fine meet and Nakatani is 3-for-9 with this barn recently. #6 Saint Loup (5-2) is a French invader now under the care of Canani and the TRD clocker was impressed with his Oct 27 move. #4 Big Bane Theory (8-1) graduated down the dip Oct 11 and he handled a flat mile in his bow. He is another with a strong local work. The Plays: #9 to win, Exacta Box 3-9, Exacta 3-9/4-6
SA 2 (Alw-1x, 6.5f) #10 Miss Oops (8-1) exits a sharp local $20k claiming win off the Dallas Keen claim and the runner-up came back to score. The early-pressing type likes this distance, has a nose for the wire, and is well posted on the outside. #5 Warren’s Amber (5-1) is 2-for-12 lifetime and both wins occurred here, and her last tally was accomplished at this trip. She hails from a sharp turf/dirt barn and Hernandez is 2-for-5 with this outfit recently. #7 Big Tiz (2-1) is usually in the hunt but hard to trust on top based on her 1-f0r-11 record. #4 d’Princess (6-1) got loose at 6f here last time and earned the best last out number. She has to navigate another 1/2 furlong and meets other speed. The Plays: #10 to win, Exacta Box 5-10, Exacta 5-10/4-7
SA 3 (Alw-1x, 7f) #6 Northern Iowa (6-1) has been on my radar screen since his flat mile graduation run at Del Mar Aug 2, and he was hardly disgraced in a close-up show finish as the beaten favorite in the Pomona Derby last time. Seven furlongs seems right and Cerin uses Bejarano on his live wires. #7 Macho Durado (6-1) cruised at this course/distance in January and has not won in three starts since. He got in an even 6f run at Del Mar for new trainer Mike Mitchell last time and today’s pilot Rosario booted home four on Thursday. #1 Got Even (5-2) likes this oval and has struck at seven panels before. He garnered the best last race number in a hard fought place finish in the Cal Cup Classic. The Plays: #6 to win, Exacta 6/1-7, Exacta 1-7/6
SA 4 (BC Juvenile Sprint, 6f)
SA 5 (G2 BC Marathon, 14f)
SA 6 (G1 BC Juvenile Fillies Turf, 8T)
SA 7 (G1 BC Juvenile Fillies, 8.5f)
SA 8 (G1 BC F&M Turf, 10T)
SA 9 (G1 BC Ladies’ Classic, 9f) Today’s Santa Anita Park play at HorseRacingNation.com.
SA 10 (G2 Twilight Derby, 9T) #6 Old Time Hockey (6-1) battled Del Mar lover My Best Brother three times at that venue and beat him in the G2 La Jolla. He had trouble in the G2 Del Mar Derby and can rebound with a clean trip under leading rider Joe Talamo. #2 Speaking of Which (2-1) brings strong Irish form to the table. He is fresh, adds lasix, and could easily fire a big shot. #7 Grandeur (5-1) invades from Great Britain. He has talent but is not nearly as fresh as Speaking of Which. #8 My Best Brother (3-1) is a nose away from five straight wins. He has been freshened since Del Mar and will take them as far as he can. The Plays: #6 to win, Exacta Box 2-6, Exacta 2-6/7-8

I took two in the Sprint. Sweet Shirley Mae and High Tail. Both raced against Bern Identity which won 3 of 5 and 426,000 dollars. I thought High Tail’s beyers were pretty good as a 2 year old in June.
Calidoscopio raced against Mr. Nedawi and Expressive Halo several times and beat them both in the same race. A nine year old used to carrying 132 to 134 pounds and probably feeling years younger today.
Both south American runners actually looked good to me until I saw that Calidoscopio won a hell of a lot more money.
Other than the always fluky BC Marathon, speed was kind on the main track at Santa Anita on Friday. Let’s see if that trend continues on BC Saturday.
