Hat trick for Joel Rosario. Rafael Bejarano and Martin Garcia both booted home a pair. Doug O’Neill and John Sadler (Twirling Candy, Switch) both saddled two winners on the day.

On the ticket front I tabbed five Primary (Twirling Candy, Supreme Summit, Switch, Silent Soul, Rathman) winners. I had three cracks at the pick six in the Adoration Stakes but the best I could finish was a rallying 3rd (Silver Swallow) in the 7-horse field. So many consos at the current Del Mar meet!

Champ Pegasus burst through the pack to smartly take the 71st running of the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap for marathon turfers. There was not much behind him so he’ll need to keep improving to beat future rivals.

Richard’s Kid (8th race) rallied from off the pace to defend his title in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic. Mike Smith booted home the Baffert trainee.

El Brujo (10th race) was aggressively handled by Joel Rosario and had enough in the tank to hold off Crown of Thorns in the seven furlong Grade 1 Pat O’Brien.
