Pick Six Blog Changes

Changes are coming to the Pick 6 Blog site. My busy schedule as Editor for the CBS Horse Racing page, Analyst for Today’s Racing Digest, and Editor/Handicapper for Horse Racing Nation has forced me to cut back on my pick six blog duties.

I will still thoroughly cover carryovers and big days, but I no longer have the time to devote to this blog on a daily basis. I’ll try to update this site as often as possible so keep checking back for news and analysis.

There is a carryover for April 7th and I will be posting abbreviated analysis with tickets later today. I will also post my latest Derby Top 10 today.

Sunday at Santa Anita

First off, I would like to thank Steve Bortstein for filling in during the 2-day Breeders’ Cup. I appreciate all of his hard work. Now that the Cup is over, it is time to get back to business here on the pick six blog.

I am a bit behind because of the long Cup day, so my pick six analysis for Nov 8th will be posted Sunday morning.

In the meantime, I have posted the 9th race from Churchill on Horse Racing Nation, and you can view my free pick here.

Also, my daily full cards from Fair Grounds are available to purchase through Today’s Racing Digest, and I will be posting a daily free pick on their site as well. Click here to view my Sunday free selection from Fair Grounds.

Note that you must be a Today’s Racing Digest member (free signup) to view my free picks and/or purchase my analysis.

Daily recaps and previews from Fair Grounds can be found on my Thoroughbred Fever blog.

Carryovers here we come!

Welcome to the Del Mar Pick 6 blog. The 2009 season at Del Mar begins on July 22nd, and we will cover the Pick 6 on a daily basis.
Information will be updated throughout the day, and besides the Pick 6, we will look at track bias info, along with horses to watch and jockey-trainer stats.
The Pick 6 will be covered thoroughly, with an emphasis on ticket construction. To that end, we will include a budget ticket for players with smaller bankrolls, and a larger ticket for big players.
Wednesday’s (7-22-09) 10-race card includes the Oceanside Stakes (race 8). Typically run in divisions, the traditional opening day feature will only have one running this year, and it has drawn an overflow field of 14.
The Pick 6 will cover races 5-10, and I’ll be back later to break down the final six races on the opening day card.
