Jarrod Horak’s Del Mar Pick 6 analysis – Saturday, August 28, 2009
Del Mar Race 5 (Mcl-25k, f&m 3up, 6f) #8 Eclipse Syrah (9-2) drops to lowest level and attracts hustling apprentice. Come and get her. #12 I. B. Stormin (7-2) finished 3rd in $62.5k bow, and she was 6th in productive high end $100k maiden claimer 2nd time out in January. Sports a bullet and attracts Talamo.
Del Mar Race 6 (OC-40/1x, f&m 3up, 6.5f) #10 Mona de Momma (5-2) earned best last race speed rating in sharp local maiden sprint tally off a layoff. Sadler trainee reunites with Bejarano. #12 Dish The Dirt (6-1) has run well in both start at this distance and reunites with winning pilot Rosario. #14 Wickednwackyingrid (3-1) is 3-for-3 here and is an obvious threat if able to draw in from AE list.
Del Mar Race 7 (MSW, 2yo, 6f) #6 Winter Canyon (3-1) was the beaten fav from rail post in local bow. Came back with a bullet, and the $950k Keeneland sales grad can make amends for Mandella. Gets in light with hustling apprentice. #1 The Skinny Man (7-2) was beaten fav in May bow, and place finisher came back to score. Four local works for this. #2 Get My Fix (9-2) was necked in same race my top exits, and he also sports a bullet for this. #10 Dave In Dixie (6-1) debuts for the profitable 29% Rosario/Sadler team. Been working steadily since June and could hit the ground running.
Del Mar Race 8 (Grade 2 Del Mar Mile Hcp, 3up, 8T) #7 Monterey Jazz (7-5) looks loose on the lead today. 3-time flat mile turf winner reuintes with Flores, who has booted him home multiple times in the graded ranks.
Del Mar Race 9 (MSW, CA-bred 2yo fil, 5.5f) #3 Excellent News (2-1) dueled and weakened to 4th in solid local bow, and place finisher Warrens Jitterbug was nostrilized on the turf Thursday. Baffert 23% blinkers off and 21% with 2nd timers. #4 Miss Georgie Girl (5-2) was 5th from post 9 in same race my top exits. No reason she cannot go better. Gomez sticks. Walsh 10% with 2nd time starters. #5 Judge Joan (6-1) is a $120k purchase for Mullins, who is 21% with juveniles. Some nice drills for this.
Del Mar Race 10 (Clm-32k, 4up, 8T) I was a fan of #10 Self Made Man (7-2) when he raced on the Kentucky circuit. Mike Mitchell has him now, and he disappointed off a layoff on Polytrack last time. Right there in all 3 starts at this turf distance and projects a trouble free stalking trip under leading rider. #8 Icemancometh (4-1) has been part of exacta in half of his 14 turf starts. The one to reel in. #2 On Fire (6-1) makes his 4th start of the meet for Abrams, and he landed the place in 3 previous outings. Late running threat.
