Saturday (7-3-10) Hollywood Park Recap
Both surfaces seemed to play fair.
Four-bagger for the red hot Joel Rosario.
Gotta Have Her overcame a slow start and rallied from 6th and last to prevail by a 1/2 length in the 13th running of the Grade 2 Royal Heroine Mile.
Harmonious sat a decent stalking trip and gamely beat longshots Antares World and Weekend Magic in the Grade 1 American Oaks for grassy 3yo fillies. Martin Garcia guided the well-bred daughter of Dynaformer for John Shirreffs.
Sunday (7-4-10) Hollywood Park Preview
A 9-race card is on tap for Sunday and the feature is the Grade 2 American Handicap for 3-year-olds and up traveling nine furlongs on the turf. Partly cloudy skies are expected with a high temperature of 67. The pick six includes three grass events and check out my analysis of the 6th and 9th races below. The aforementioned American Handicap is my Horse Racing Nation Play of the Day.
HOL 6 (OC-62.5/2x, 3up, 6.5f) #9 Hard Bill (8-1) has a nose for the wire and ran well off the shelf in his US bow. #6 Truest Legend (5-2) is 2-for-2 on synthetic and looms the target. He can fire fresh and reunites with winning pilot Espinoza. #4 Guns On The Table (3-1) attracts Bejarano and projects a decent tactical journey in his first outing since March. The Plays: #9 to win, Quinella 9/4-6
HOL 9 (MSW, 2yo, 5T) #5 Robbie The Cat (7-2) debuts for the profitable Mandella barn and Bejarano takes the call. His dam has tossed a turf winner and the Santa Anita worktab looks solid. #8 American Wildcat (5-2) ran well in both synthetic sprints and is bred well enough for turf. Note that Bejarano seemingly chose my top but Espinoza is 25% with Bonde. The Plays: #5 to win, Quinella 5-8
