Hollywood Park Today – July 9
- Updated: July 9, 2010
Monday (7-5-10) Hollywood Park Recap
Cushion Track seemed to play fair. Edge to early-pressing types on the turf course.
Another hat trick for the red hot Joel Rosario. Rafael Bejarano booted home a pair.
An exciting stretch battle between J P”s Gusto and Western Mood with the former prevailing by a neck in the 71st running of the Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile Championship.
Friday (7-9-10) Hollywood Park Preview
An 8-race card is on tap for Friday night and the competitive Optional Claiming grass feature has six horses at 5-1 or less on the morning line. Partly cloudy skies are expected with a high temperature of 65. I have included analysis of the 5th race below, and note that I will be covering the Hollywood Gold Cup pick six right here on the blog.
HOL 5 (Alw-1x, f&m 3up, 6.5f) #4 Downhill Diva (6-1) owns an ascending Final Time Rating pattern and has enough positional speed to keep the leaders in her sights. The razor sharp CA-bred goes for a hat trick and must be respected in her current form. #3 Folk Dancer (7-2) owns fine early-pressing speed and runs well fresh. She hails from a sharp barn and might be aggressively handled under Tyler Baze. The Plays: #4 to win, Quinella 3-4
