May 12th Hollywood Park Recap – 5 out of 6
Wednesday Hollywood Park Recap (5-12-10)
Edge to stalking types on Cushion Track. A wire job (8f route) and a stalker (6f sprint) made up the two turf winners.
Rafael Bejarano booted home five, and Bob Baffert saddled two winners on the day.
As luck would have it, I needed Bejarano in the 7th to give out the Pick 6 on Spread Ticket #3 ($32), and he rallied to miss by a head aboard Red Eye Express. Six of six brought back $2,616. I would have taken that for a $32 investment. The conso came back $48.80.
Sweet Hanni was much the best in the finale. She surged to a 1/2 length win after finding room late in the $50,000 turf sprint for 3yo fillies.
Thursday Hollywood Park Preview (5-13-10)
An 8-race card is on tap at Hollywood Park May 13 and first post for the Thursday program is 1:00 p.m. Pacific. The pick six includes a pair of turf races and the 5th race is my MySpace Play of the Day.
I am busy with my Preakness Day full card and other Triple Crown related work, so I did not have the time to post the May 13 Pick 6 from Hollywood.
Preakness Week Coverage
I will be a guest on Steve Bortstein’s Fox Sports 1340 show on Friday. It will be great to reunite with Steve. We did the old Fast Track together at Racing on the Net and I have been his guest a few times over the years. I will be joining Steve on his show at 10:00 a.m. Eastern on Friday (May 14).
I am selling my Preakness Day full card, and it will be available on May 13 at Today’s Racing Digest (TRD).
I went to Pimlico Race Course on May 13 for Sunrise At Old Hilltop. I toured the backstretch and Stakes barn and will include plenty of photos in my next Preakness Stakes blog. I am also going to Pimlico for Black-Eyed Susan Day on Friday.
