Santa Anita Pick 6 – Feb 15th
- Updated: February 14, 2010
Monday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes a pair of graded events. Up first is the San Vicente for 3yo’s traveling seven furlongs on synthetic ground. 2-1 fav Sidney’s Candy tries to rebound from a disappointing allowance run. The Buena Vista Handicap looks like a match race between Cat By The Tale and Tuscan Evening. Mostly sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 79. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.
Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.
Degree of Difficulty: Moderate. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Monday pick six from Santa Anita rates a 5.
Possible Singles: Hot Damon (5th race), Raging Wit (8th race), Uncle Don (10th race)
Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Monday, February 15, 2010
Santa Anita Race 5 (OC-25/1x, CA-bred 4up, 6.5T) #2 Hot Damon (3-1) pulled off a wire job in downhill maiden win on Jan 7th, and he rallied for 4th in off the turf event last time. Figs are on the upswing, and he should enjoy a return to the sod. #10 Vaundell (5-2) was necked off the shelf last time, and he’s out of 17% first grass sire In Excess.
Santa Anita Race 6 (MSW, 4up, 6f) #4 One Man’s Delight (4-1) keeps improving for overdue barn, and Martin Garcia riding well recently. #5 Gold Aly (5-1) needed last for Mullins, and he’s 24% 2nd off the shelf. Better likely. #9 Off The Wall (5-2) dueled through above par splits in needed return. Can move up from outside post.
Santa Anita Race 7 (Clm-40k, 4up, 6.5T) #6 High Standards (4-1) got up by a nose versus similar hillside foes last time. Love his early-pressing versatility, and he could easily make it two straight for top notch connections. #10 Noblety (7-2) has been in fine form since the Kruljac claim. Traded decisions with my top in last pair, and an outside tracking trip is expected. #2 Orient Emperor (15-1) receives a rider upgrade to Flores, and he ran well down the dip on Jan 3rd. Prominent throughout.
Santa Anita Race 8 (Grade 2 San Vicente, 3yo, 7f) #6 Raging Wit (6-1) won his synthetic sprint bow, and he finished off the board in a trio of stakes on turf and dirt since. Made a move before weakening in a turf route off the shelf last time, and place finisher Bim Bam came back to beat Interactif in a stakes event. Continues to work well and could pounce on these in the lane. #1 Quiet Invader (3-1) goes route to sprint for Baffert, and he could fall into the perfect ground saving stalking trip under Martin Garcia.
Santa Anita Race 9 (Grade 2 Buena Vista Hcp, f&m 4up, 8T) #1 Cat By The Tale (7-2) has fired in seven straight from 6.5 furlongs to a mile and an eighth. 3-time local winner broke through with a graded win last time, and she projects a great ground saving stalking trip under Rosario. #5 Tuscan Evening (9-5) beat my top at this course/distance in Nov. Win type has won 6 of last 10 and should be forwardly placed under Bejarano.
Santa Anita Race 10 (Mcl-25k, 4up, 6.5f) #5 Uncle Don (5-2) was necked off the shelf last time. Rider upgrade to Rosario, and barn 29% 2nd off the shelf. #1 Nathaniel (4-1) drops in class and switches surfaces off the shelf for the hot Machowsky barn. #4 D C Tapit (7-5) drops and removes the hood. Mitchell 25% with this type of returnee, and he sports a bullet for this.
