Santa Anita Pick 6 – Feb 25th

Thursday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes a pair of turf races. Short fields are prevalent, and the probability of numerous chalky winners is high. Sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 72. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.

Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.

Degree of Difficulty: Chalky. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Thursday pick six from Santa Anita rates a 3.

Possible Singles: Ms Margaritaville (3rd race), Lucks Mine (4th race), Prince of Gotham (5th race)

Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Thursday, February 25, 2010

Santa Anita Race 3 (Mcl-50k, 3yo fil, 5.5f) #5 Ms Margaritaville (2-1) drops into a maiden claimer for the first time, and O’Neill saddled two winners yesterday. Barn also has #1 Our Bellini Bikini (3-1), and she drops a peg in first start since Aug ’09. Tyler Baze riding well lately. #3 Maddyaboutyou (4-1) ran down the dip first time out. Drops and adds lasix for Ron Ellis.

Santa Anita Race 4 (Clm-40k, 3yo, 6.5T) #1 Circle Drive (9-2) switches surfaces and turns back. Will be positioned closest to the even money speedster, and he’s bred well enough for turf. Barn 21% first turf. #5 Lucks Mine (1-1) drops and turns back off the shelf. Has plenty of speed and looms the target.

Santa Anita Race 5 (MSW, CA-bred 3up, 8f) #5 Prince of Gotham (8-5) showed marked improvement 2nd time out. Flees the rail and figures tough if able to handle added real estate. #1 Ride Along (2-1) has turf route experience. Barn not reliable, but he’s a contender if able to handle synthetic.

Santa Anita Race 6 (MSW, 3yo fil, 8T) #4 Indiara (7-2) faced decent company in synthetic sprints. Tries turf and has speed (rail at 30 feet). Gomez hops aboard. #5 First Settler (5-2) finished a troubled 6th in course/distance bow. Adds lasix and can go better for Talamo/Drysdale.

Santa Anita Race 7 (OC-25/1x, CA-bred f&m 4up, 7f) #6 Blame The Wine (5-2) is a synthetic sprint win type. Likes this course, handles seven panels, and Avila clicking at current stand. #7 A Clever Ten (8-5) landed place down the dip last time. She’s better on synthetic and is an obvious threat. Local bullet for this.

Santa Anita Race 8 (Mcl-25k, 4up, 8.5f) #5 Big Jay (7-2) should move forward after stalking place finish over a route of ground off the shelf. Not much pace or depth in this event. #8 Holladay Road (3-1) drops and switches surfaces. First start since May ’09. #10 Devil On The Roof (5-2) drops and will be finishing. Cold barn zero for 20 with special weight to maiden claiming runners.
