Santa Anita Pick 6 – Feb 27th

Saturday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes the Grade 3 Sham Stakes for 3yo’s traveling nine furlongs on the Pro-Ride surface. There is a 90% chance of rain with a high temperature of 62. Probably off the turf tomorrow, and hopefully they’ll be able to salvage the card. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.

Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.

Degree of Difficulty: Moderate. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Saturday pick six from Santa Anita rates a 6.

Possible Singles: One Man’s Delight (4th race), Ninth Infantry (6th race), Krakow Queen (9th race)

Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Saturday, February 27, 2010

Santa Anita Race 4 (MSW, CA-bred 3up, 6.5T) #1 One Man’s Delight (5-2) owns an ascending speed fig pattern. Looms a serious prominent throughout threat on any footing. #8 Dana Dynamo (4-1) returns for 17% layoff trainer Headley, and he’s firing bullets for this. #3 Warren’s Prancer (9-2) shows solid local works for career bow, and Bejarano takes the call for a sneaky barn.

Santa Anita Race 5 (Clm-12.5/2L, 4up, 8.5f) #6 Country Tough (9-2) does best work here, and he goes turf to synthetic and reunites with winning pilot Gomez. #1 Pacific Halo (6-1) stretches out 3rd off the shelf, and expect aggressive handling under Tyler Baze. Look out if he sneaks away early. #3 Phantom Strike (3-1) owns running style versatility and stretches out off the shelf. Bejarano hops aboard, and barn 22% blinkers off.

Santa Anita Race 6 (Str-Alw, 3yo fil, 6f) #7 Ninth Infantry (4-1) smartly broke maiden from off the pace on the drop last time, and her patient style should play well in this spot. #4 Shine’n Time (8-1) tallied nicely from post 12 here on Jan 6th, and barn is 22% with recent graduates trying winners for the first time. #8 Euro Gal (7-2) switches surfaces and reunites with winning pilot Bejarano.

Santa Anita Race 7 (Clm-25k, 4up, 8T) #7 Changing (6-1) hails from the recently hot Berrio/Avila team. Tallied in 2 of last 3 and is a threat or turf or synthetic. #2 Mind The Minister (6-1) woke up on synthetic last time, and he’s a dual surface threat in current form. #11 Grey Storm (8-1) failed to fire in a NoCal optional claimer last time. Handles any footing and seems realistically spotted.

Santa Anita Race 8 (Grade 3 Sham, 3yo, 9f) #5 Setsuko (3-1) rallied for place on weeds last time, but he’s better on synthetic. Earned triple digit late pace figs in last four all-weather starts, and Bejarano chose him over #10 Nextdoorneighbor (5-2). The latter looked good in local synthetic route maiden breaker. Should continue to progress and looms a factor in stakes bow.

Santa Anita Race 9 (Mcl-32k, 3yo fil, 5f) #1 Krakow Queen (3-1) dueled in local bow, and she earned quality pace figs that day. Every chance to move up 2nd time out. #5 Binky’s Sister (9-2) debuts for a profitable outfit, and she would not have to be much to compete here.
