Santa Anita Pick 6 – Jan 23rd
Saturday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes the Grade 2 Palos Verdes Handicap for 4yo’s and up traveling six furlongs on the Pro-Ride surface. Breeders’ Cup Sprint hero Dancing In Silks is using this as a springboard to the Golden Shaheen in Dubai. Sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 62. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.
Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.
Degree of Difficulty: Moderate. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Saturday pick six from Santa Anita rates a 6.
Possible Singles: Tallahsocean (5th race), Rauschenberg (6th race), Supreme Summit (8th race)

Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Saturday, January 23, 2010
Santa Anita Race 4 (Mcl-32k, 3yo fil, 5.5f) #10 I Can Yodel Too (4-1) stalked and weakened in local bow. Barn 35% with 2nd timers. #9 Excessive Chatter (3-1) landed place in both outings, and she sports a pair of solid Cushion Track drills for this.
Santa Anita Race 5 (Clm-12.5k, f&m 4up, 6f) #7 Tallahsocean (7-2) drops a peg off the Hess claim, and she does her best work here. Bejarano seemingly chose her over dropper #9 Sunny Peace (5-2). #6 Oakhill Girl (20-1) hails from a profitable, low profile layoff barn, and Espinoza is 1 for 1 with outfit. Could spice up the exotics at the very least.
Santa Anita Race 6 (MSW, 3yo, 7f) #5 Rauschenberg (4-1) was a solid 2nd in debut across town. Marty Jones can do no wrong at current stand, and the $140k purchase figures to move forward. #9 Leothelion (2-1) exceeded winning par for this in local place finish on opening day. Continues to work well for Puype.
Santa Anita Race 7 (OC-25/1x, 4up, 6.5T) #3 Hot Damon (10-1) is on the upswing for Gary Stute, who is 25% with recent graduates trying winners for the first time. Nice drill on Jan 15th. #11 Adam Suances (6-1) finished an even 4th off a layoff last time. Barn 21% 2nd off the shelf, and Rosario sticks. #7 Smoke Cat (9-2) reunites with winning pilot and looms the target. #6 Buck’s Bro (12-1) puts blinkers back on 2nd off the shelf, and barn enjoying productive meet.
Santa Anita Race 8 (Grade 2 Palos Verdes Hcp, 4up, 6f) #7 Supreme Summit (9-2) broke 13th and rallied to miss 3rd by a ½ in Malibu last time. Reunites with Bejarano and might revert to stalking tactics today. Gets pace to chase and appears to be sitting on a smasher. #1 Dancing In Silks (6-5) goes for 5th straight and is an obvious contender, but he will be overbet off his upset BC Sprint tally. #4 Paul’s Hope (15-1) always gives a good account of himself, and today’s expected honest pace should help his cause.
Santa Anita Race 9 (Mcl-25k, f&m 4up, 6.5f) #11 Closing Steps (7-2) makes first start in over a year for Rosario/Sadler, and barn shows a profit with this type of returnee. Showed some ability 2nd time out. #5 Meadow Lake Queen (6-1) earned best last race speed rating as the beaten fav across town. Prominent throughout under Espinoza. #10 Allie Wolff (6-1) is out of a profitable 19% debut maiden claiming barn, and she’s working well enough for this.
