Santa Anita Pick 6 – Jan 29th

Friday’s pick six from Santa Anita Park includes a pair of turf races. In the optional claiming feature, multiple stakes placed filly Smart Seattle makes her first start since finishing 9th in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Filly Turf. Partly cloudy skies are expected with a high temperature of 69. My suggested tickets can be found at the bottom of this post following analysis.

Pick 6 blog has been growing in popularity on a daily basis, and I would like to thank everyone for making this site a success. I will continue to feature the Southern California Pick 6, along with select carryovers from across the country.

Degree of Difficulty: Moderate. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Friday pick six from Santa Anita rates a 5.

Possible Singles: Onefunsonofagun (4th race), Sweet Hanni (5th race), Smart Seattle (7th race)

Jarrod Horak’s Santa Anita Pick 6 analysis – Friday, January 29, 2010

Santa Anita Race 3 (Clm-25/2L, 4up, 8f) #2 Ringolevio (9-2) likes to sit behind a slow pace and pounce. Might get his preferred race shape in this spot, and this looks like his best distance as well. #9 Major General (6-5) earned above par fig on the turf last time. Drops and tries synthetic for Mitchell.

Santa Anita Race 4 (Clm-20k, f&m 4up, 6f) #8 Onefunsonofagun (3-1) has run well in last two synthetic sprints versus similar. Stalking style should play well in a race with multiple speed types signed on. #11 Life By R R (7-2) enters in decent form and projects an outside stalking trip.

Santa Anita Race 5 (MSW, 3yo fil, 6.5T) #10 Sweet Hanni (8-1) turns back and switches surfaces for sharp barn. Espinoza 2 for 3 with Cerin recently. #2 L’Enchanteresse (4-1) broke last and rallied to finish an even 4th in US bow at this course/distance. Bejarano sticks with the O’Neill trainee, and better seems possible. #5 Costanta (8-1) was nabbed out debut by Sadler, and dam has tossed a pair of turf winners.

Santa Anita Race 6 (Str-Alw, 3yo fil, 7f) #8 You Know I Wancha (8-1) donned the hood and broke maiden at this course/distance last time. O’Neill also has #5 Top Seeded (7-2), and the latter got up to graduate at 6f here last out. Bejarano rides back. #2 Frequent Fame (12-1) turns back to a preferred sprint, and Gomez strings along.

Santa Anita Race 7 (OC-80/1x, 3yo fil, 8T)  #4 Smart Seattle (5-2) graduated in turf sprint bow, and she came back to land place in 2 of 3 stakes tries. Has not been seen since running 9th over speed friendly surface in BC Juvenile Filly Turf. Barn 21% with this type of returnee. #2 Jet Blue Girl (3-1) has been part of exacta in all 4 outings, and she was right there when switched to the turf last time. Prominent throughout.

Santa Anita Race 8 (MSW, CA-bred 3yo, 6f) #4 Circa’sgoldengear (6-1) is working well for low profile barn. Could hit the ground running under Pedroza. #1 Golden Horizon (7-2) earned above par speed rating here last out. Gomez hops aboard, and barn saddled a maiden claiming winner on Wednesday. #8 Slew City Gold (8-1) sports some good looking Hollywood drills for a competent barn. Espinoza hops aboard the live firster.
