Saturday Santa Anita Park Pick 6 Tickets – Dec 31

Friday Santa Anita Park Recap – Dec 30

Main track played fair (no wire jobs). Lady of Shamrock rallied to capture the lone turf route carded.

Hat trick for Rafael Bejarano. Eswan Flores booted home a pair.

On the ticket front I tabbed three Primary (Lord Avalon, Spirit Seeker, Lady of Shamrock) winners.

I’ve been using past performances for years but never really used the entire form until late this year. I’m talking specifically about the company line. I’ve picked more long shot winners in the past 6 months than I could ever imagine. As an example I’ll use the late pick three at Santa Anita.

In the 7th, I liked the 1 which had two good 7 furlong races and did ok against Marshal Marini who I think is a darn good horse. Look in the company line and you’ll see Chips All In beat my horse in a 62K stakes. Chips paid 25 dollars.

Race 8: Turbulent Descent was the prohibitive favorite. If you give the competition some credit, you could have had Teddy’s Promise at 35 dollars. Teddy’s Promise raced well against Home Sweet Aspen, a horse I like. Aspen beat Pomeroy’s Pistol just as like Tubulent Descent did. The favorite was laid off and disadvantaged. But a big advantage for me in the pick three.

Final Leg, Leaving New York did well against Breeder’s Cup winner Amazobie. He also beat Scofield Barracks. Who else beat Scofield? Frumious. And Frumious wasn’t laid off like Leaving NY. He paid 30 dollars.

The 2 dollar pick three paid well over 4 thousand. And that’s what I mean about the company line yielding long shots. I imagine there are people who handicap the company line and might not need to use the rest of the form too much. It might be the most accessable and certainly the most readable part of the form so that even a novice could get long shot winners by observing races and studying results.

Here’s another one Jarrod. You know how you had Lana’s Smile in the sixth on Friday? Guess who raced well against her? Chop House George who paid 70 dollars.

In Friday’s fourth race, I liked Cloud Hopper who eventually became favorite. I favored his sprint speed and the way he raced against Hurry Home Clover in a sprint and then followed him next race in a route. Cho’s horse, Groovin Solo sprinted with both and showed comparable speed. It was a 23 dollar winner, a second off horse.
